Wabi Sabi and the Mac

With "slow living" as the newest incarnation of the simplicity movement, the search for fresh inspiration on ways to live a more authentic life is as pressing as ever. The Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi encourages slowing down, living modestly, and appreciating the natural and imperfect aspect of material culture. But what is this elusive concept that has been converted into the Feng Shui of the 21st Century?

Wabi Sabi can best be described by observation and feel: The sudden spurt of an ivy shoot, the erosive perfection in a sea shell, the splinter cracks in roof beams, the moss on a ceramic tile. Take a look at these photos for examples.

It is the art of imperfect beauty as developed over time and worn away by elements. Rooted in Zen Buddhism, wabi-sabi is the marriage of wabi, meaning humble, and sabi, which suggests beauty

Questions and Answers:
1. Didn´t Wabi Sabi appear in the Stars Wars Trilogy?
Thats Right. He shared a straw bale house with Chewbacca and Obi-Wan Kenobo during a Permaculture Weekend.

2. Is my MacBook Air Wabi Sabi too?
Far from it my hasty friend. Wabi Sabi is understated and flawed, it is also scarred by time, worn down by the elements, and imperfect to the viewer.

3. Exactly!
Well, all right then.

4. Do you know someone who actually know what the wabi-sabi they are talking about?
Try looking at Wise Words at Amazon.
